Bubba-Ho-Tep

Friday, I drove up to DC to see the new Bruce Campbell movie, Bubba-Ho-Tep. The movie had a great premise but was pretty slow. Bruce did a Q&A after the movie and was hilarious. It’s really no wonder this guy has the fan base he has. He seems to really enjoy entertaining his fans. After the movie was more like a stand-up comedy routine with audience participation rather than a Q&A. Because of a false fire alarm in the middle of things, Todd and Witt wound up with plenty of free passes since the theater employees weren’t paying attention to who got how many.

Friday night, I met up with Carrie, Todd & Witt in DC where we went to dinner at Legal Seafood. Our food was really good (I had a tuna steak with sun dried tomato sauce and mashed potatoes), and our waitress was fun. She is a molecular biologist I think (something working with DNA) and waits tables to pay off student loans. Something I probably should have done awhile back.

After paying our bill, we took a cab to the newly opened E-Street Theater to see Bubba-Ho-Tep with Bruce Campbell. Despite the fire alarm, we all had a good time. The Q&A with Bruce was easily the highlight of the evening. On the way back to the car, we passed the “Bender Building.” I snapped a pic for Dasher and we moved on to the parking garage.

On getting back to Todd & Carrie’s place, Witt and I waited to hear from Corky so we could head over to his place and sleep. After 2 episodes of Tivo’ed Most Extreme Elimination Challenge, Corky called, and we headed over. Corky had some friends from work over and we all watched the Jackass movie. Finally, we got to bed around 4am.

The next day, we didn’t do jack. I took Witt to the metro to go into DC and get some work done. Cork and I hung around his apartment watching TV and waiting for Witt to call. At about 6pm, he called. I picked him up, we all had dinner and watched football before sacking out. Todd was unable to make it over to hang out. Fortunately however, he was not smothered in his sleep that night.

Sunday, Corky couldn’t get out of bed, so after having some donuts and coffee/hot chocolate, Witt and I headed into DC to see the Spy Museum. We got there and decided it was a little much in admission since Witt only had a little over an hour and they recommend at least 2 to enjoy everything. We hung out in the museum shop and headed a few blocks over to Chinatown where I introduced Witt to New Big Wong. I have eaten at this place pretty much every time I have been to DC over the past couple years. The food’s good, but nothing terribly special. Honestly, it’s the name that brings me back.

After dropping Witt off at Union Station, I headed back to Frederickburg where I met up with Mom & Dad for dinner. Since my bowels had been repaying me for some wrongdoing unknown to me, I just had a salad. I drove home and hit the sack after accidentally setting my alarm an hour late. Brain fart.
