Me + Tree = Bad Time ™
This weekend at Snowshoe, Janel and I had a great time. Sunday, our last day, I got a little adventurous and started popping off the run into the trees a little bit. Mind you, I was not boarding through the woods by any stretch of the imagination. Merely following little paths around a few trees and back out onto the main run. Nothing big. After four or five times, Janel had still not seen me. Something about her trying to pay attention to not falling or hitting anyone around her. Anyway, the last time through the trees, she saw. That was the time I hit the tree. Pretty hard too. She says she heard a smack about 70 yards back up the slope. I just kind of slumped against the tree while I caught my breath and made sure I was still/going to remain conscious. Fortunately, my chest didn’t tighten up until the drive home. That sucked. Especially after hitting Taco Bell in Charlotteville and almost getting hick-ups.
:: UPDATE 3.23 ::
Went to the doctor today and got Celebrex. Apparently, the cartilage between my ribs and sternum are inflamed like an old man’s hip! The first pill you take is 400mg! I didn’t even know my ribs were there an hour after swallowing it. Unfortunately, the regular 200mg pills that comprise the rest of the bottle aren’t near as effective.

Let me start off by saying thank you Christian, for still going on this trip with me. Considering that the number went from 8 to 2, I thought about just saying screw it all and forget about the trip. I didn’t think you would want to go anymore, but after all, I am glad that we went. I ended up having a great time. Obviously it was way better than last year’s experience, I didn’t cry…with the exception of that one fall. Actually my hip is still sore. And I am very pleased that I made it down the slopes a few times without falling. Now as far as that little episode with you hitting that tree…I didn’t know what to say. I know that drive home must have sucked…I offered to take over the wheel. But I hope you are feeling better.
